Breaking: Three monarchs feared shot dead in Imo state
Three traditional rulers in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State have reportedly been shot dead by gunmen on Tuesday afternoon.
The Nation learnt the royal fathers were having their town hall meeting in Njaba when a group of armed bandits stormed the venue and shot them dead.
It was gathered that some other people sustained multiple degrees of injuries as a result of the shooting.
However, as at the time of filing the report, the names of the monarchs involved were not known.
The Chairman Imo Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Emmanuel Okeke told The Nation: “I have heard that some people were shot in the meeting in Njaba but I am trying to get the details.”
Imo police spokesman CSP Michael Abattam confirmed the incident.
He however said two of the traditional rulers were shot by gunmen.
“They were having their town hall meeting today when a group of boys came there to shoot them. They are in critical condition, I don’t have further details,” he stated.
